Barren Leaves

I heard the mission bells that ring out in the night and saw the forest fires that burned within in my sight beneath the sea of thunder, is it really any wonder that false hope will follow rain, understand going under

Barren Leaves

I heard the mission bells that ring out in the night
And saw the forest fires that burned within in my sight
Beneath the sea of thunder, is it really any wonder
That false hope will follow rain, understand going under

Barren leaves and so it seems
Its like we're living in a dream
In the silence there is screaming
By the causeway they are leaving

Echoes dance, and my heart feel heavy
We should have shot for the levy
Chicago rhythm stamp your feet
Feel the rhythm on the street

Someone hollered for my number
Is there solace within the thunder
Cleanse my body take the pain
While I'm dancing in the rain

Would I have stumbled, when we talked
Through this passage I have walked
Barren leaves and so it seems
Like we're living in a dream
