Breathless

Breathless, the sweat dripped from my brow how is it that I had come to the here and now coherent as I had become, what was the total of their sum slowly I watch as one by one they came to me but who was welcome and who would flee

Breathless

Breathless, the sweat dripped from my brow
How is it that I had come to the here and now
Coherent as I had become, what was the total of their sum
Slowly I watch as one by one they came to me
But who was welcome and who would flee
Beside the river into the sea

No deeds be made with broken hands
Less I am too humble to understand
What light gives way with remarkable force
Then to linger here, within my own remorse

Skyward, I stretched my open hands
And with these breaths I contemplate
The nature of humanities fate
But was I just or was it just too late
Beside the seal of heavens gate

Lowery oh less I be
Then to come before you, on bended knee
Some might say as I may jest
That this was just, by chance some mere test

Vestige be the blood that spoils
To find itself on barren soil
Burdened with no fruit to bare
And here I stand and yet I care
