From That Day Forth

Thou stern hand, harsh words were spoken
Is this why my heart is open
Thoughts betray me and then intrude
Could this be my interlude

What is it and how it came to be
There was question of you and me
One moments lapse and I remember
Times gone by so sweet and tender

Yesterdays and yesteryear
Where I did not have to live in fear
Nothing lost and nothing mentioned
Would this be my intervention

Stern heart and harsh words not spoken
This was the epitaph, but not my token
Thoughts help find my faith, that dwells within
But was I lost within the burdens of my sins

I held my head down in shame
And listen to the driving rain
And in my heart I felt the change
And from that day forth, I was never the same
