Many A Year
Many A foul bone I have mended in my time boy
But in the blink of an eye, you are here and then you are gone
Lost to the world, all but just a mere memory
But am I so bold to think that you would understand this concept
For many a year the world has been around
And many a year more will it be here after you have gone
For so long I have watched as the souls of men
Are ripped from their bodies by the ravages of war
Withered by the years they shed their tears
And then and only then shall they die
Bye, bye farewell no more shall they kiss and tell
Tell me who is it that thinks they have the right
To hold the key to Pandora’s box of goodies
Tell me is it me or thee who stands before me now
I’ll tell you none of this world, that I leave behind
For many a year I have seen and many a year more
I will see after you have departed this world boy
For I am trapped in this damnation that is my life
For cold are the days and long are the nights in my world boy
But I have known love, and I have felt love
I have endured and watched as love has faded
From this blackened heart of mine
