Sheltered Be Thy Shadowed Heart
Abuse my body to break my spirit
But remember someone else will hear it
Neither do I need to fear
There's no need to hide in here
I feel the pulse that beats inside
And that is what keeps me live
Abrasions weep and so they seep
My own council I will keep
No salve to privilege, will I become
For I am one beneath the sun
I shall breathe, and take this breath
And cherish it and till my death
Shallow shelters creek in fear
Through the twilight hours, I wait here
Noble be the stars that twinkle bright
That led the way to faith this night
For we are shipwrecked in the sands
Reach for me and take my hand
Sheltered be thy shadowed heart
But tears are open when they depart
Nothing in the soul deceives
For if it did, then would I breathe
