The Ravages Of War
In the distance the sounds of faded gunfire
Echoes of the ravages of war
Resonant out across the heavens
Where once a bustling city dwelled
Now desolate, lifeless, and charred reminders remain
For a city torn by the ravages of war
The natural beauty of its streets
Now barren by the encounter with the bombs
The burnt offerings of human remains
Line the city streets where once the cheerful city dwelled
The beautiful clear waters of the stream
Riddled with the essence of a city in decay
A landscape once filled with natural beauty
Now a barren shadow of how it use to be
And if we could look through the looking glass
And learnt the lessons of the past
Then the beauty that was once a bustling city
Would not be the remains of a city left in ruin
Destroyed by the ravages of war
